Durrës- Draft Fiscal Package 2012, opening discussion with the groups of interest and the public

The municipality of Durrës is expected to be involved in the discussion and further in the approval of the Fiscal Package 2012. In the meantime, the Municipal Council, in coordination with the Citizens’ Transparency Office of Durres (CPII local branch) is organizing a broad discussion with the groups of interest and the public to better harmonize everyone’s interests in this decision making process, which is crucial for the city.

A consultative discussion is planned to take place on Wednesday 21^th December at the Bar Restaurant of “Aragosta” Hotel, which, considering the participation level, gives a new dimension to the public discussion in the framework of drafting and approval of the budget of Durrës.

The new Fiscal Package 2012 is expected to generate debates and discussions due to the general increase of the taxes and fees the Municipality aims to apply for the next year.  The groups of interest are highly interested to be involved in the discussion of this Fiscal Package before it becomes a normative decision by the Municipal Council. The aim of the Chairman of Durrës Municipal Council is a guaranteed involvement of all interested stakeholders in this public discussion and more effective inputs.

The CPII Center, through its website already linked to the official website of Durres municipality, makes available to Durrës citizens the Fiscal Package 2012 project, in order to inform all concerned parties in advance. In the meantime, the Citizens’ Transparency Office of Durrës is coordinating its efforts with the decision making authorities of Durrës, in order to ensure a broader participation of the interested citizens in the event to be organized on Wednesday, 21^th December 2012.
